Inspiration Board: Family Style Dining

I'm finally back and playing catch up! We had an amazing trip, spending 5 days at the farmhouse HammerSky Vineyards {where we were married in June '09!} and then styling a wedding there on Sunday! {congrats Amy & Mike!!}

The wedding was gorgeous! Can't wait to share photos. One of my favorite elements was the long dining table shared by all 37 guests and the family-style meal they shared. And I'm very lucky because 2 of my weddings next year are already planning a family style dinner as well...love that!

Here is a board to inspire those of you who are planning a family style dinner party, wedding or brunch.

Think big platters placed on  the table being the main focus decor-wise, along with small, simple florals, bottles of wine, carafes of water and flickering votives.

I will be spending a few days away with my husband & ending the week styling a lovely wedding for the sweetest couple!

I don't think I'll be writing any posts while I'm away, but I look forward to spending one of my mornings this week relaxing with a cup of tea and reading your blogs!

See you soon!

Get the Look: Shopping List { Updated Rustic }

I'm starting a feature on Dandelion & Grey called Get the Look. A shopping list is a service I provide to the clients I style for {just on a much bigger scale!!}

For this series, I will take one of my inspiration boards & provide you with a list of decor & detail items  based on the look & feel of the board.

I'd love to get your feedback! Do you like this idea? Would you purchase any of the decor for your wedding, event or home decor?

Based on yesterday's inspiration board, "Updated Rustic"....

  { Vintage Farm Ladders } A Rustic Garden  I One of these would be sweet propped up on your guestbook table, with a hanging note directing guests' to sign.

{ Rustic Console Table} Wisteria I Use this beauty for your dessert buffet or welcome table.

Well-thumbed Books { Anthropologie } I These are so lovely they don't even need an explanation!

{ Wire Gathering Baskets } Farmhousewares I These baskets are perfect to hold family & childhood photos to entertain guest's at your reception or to house end of event goodies- think individually wrapped homemade brownies, mini candy apples or your favorite candy.

 3-Tier Rustic Wooden Display { Save On Crafts } I Absolutely ideal for miniature desserts, a lovely twist for a candy buffet, favors, escort cards...endless possibilities!

{ Vintage Belgian Sap Buckets } White Flower Farmhouse I I love the idea of using these in lieu of vases.

{ Barnwood Beam Votive Holder } White Flower Farmhouse I Simple & perfect for a rustic tablescape. I adore that they're made from old beams!

Baberg Dress {Anthropologie} I A sweet, modern alternative to a classic wedding dress.
Wooden Box { Wisteria } I I love this box for florals or for escort cards;  holding little jars with tags for guests' names.

Wouldn't this be the perfect place to spend an evening with your love?

There's something about this photo that is so charming. I love the pretty dress against the rustic wood doors!

How sweet is this "handkerchief print" card? You can download it here!

I'm adoring this beachy e-session from Olive Juice Photo.

Such a fun idea for escort cards! Mini kraft paper bags overflowing with cherries!

I've been collecting blue glass lately, so naturally I'm very drawn to this vintage-looking polaroid.

Dreamy wedding loveliness!

Isn't this such an epic, beautiful photo?

Such a perfect photo of the sweetest looking shop in NY!

I like the subtle mystery this lovely lady gives off in this editorial-worthy photo.

How sweet are these delighted wedding guests?!

Real Wedding: Maya & Dave: Part II

Happy Monday!

I got busy and wasn't able to share part II of this amazing wedding on Friday, but here it is!
When I first met with Maya & looked through her inspiration photos, I noticed she pulled lots of images of great furniture pieces. I was instantly excited about that & knew I already had a few perfect pieces for these two to incorporate into their day.

Cue "yellow lovely"

Perfect name, right? Maya gave her that nickname & it couldn't be more fitting.

We used this gorgeous vintage dresser as their cake and dessert table {and the matching side tables at the ceremony site} placed in front of one of the venue's lovely wooden gates with a charming papel picado garland as a backdrop.

I loved the variety of treats Maya & Dave offered their guests! A sweet cake, red velvet cupcakes, pan dulce & mini donuts! YUM :-) We used cake stands in varying heights to create a little a-symmetry and lots of lovely pieces of Maya's grandmother's dishware alongside vintage flatware.

Aaaand not only did they provide such great desserts, they also had a charming snack table! {Lucky Guests!}

We used a collection of old soda crates as well as a piece of vintage luggage to house caramel apples, cotton candy & other goodies!

A big thank you to Maya & Dave for having me be a part of your day, for being so thoughtful, creative & fun to work with. And thank you for allowing me creative freedom to do my thing! I had a blast working with you to bring your vision to life!

Also thank you to Jen @ Green Wedding Shoes for the amazing feature & to Abby @ Style Me Pretty for including a link to this wedding on their Wrap it up Pretty post on Friday!

ps! Yellow lovely and other vintage lovelies are available to rent for your wedding or event! Check out the ever-expanding inventory & email me with questions or for a quote.
